XENOPHOBIA HELPLINE

 

Introduction

The Xenophobia tollfree service is an Automated Attendant that operates 24 hours a day.  

           Note that some destinations do not have operators who can take calls 24 hours a day,
                             and may have a voicemail service for after hours operation.
               It will enable calls to be distributed
to multiple destinations based on the input
                   of the caller.  The following helpline services are linked to this service:

  • Non Governmental Organizations
  • Embassies
  • Disaster Management Centres
  • Regional Police Services
  • Regional Home Affairs Departments
  • Counsellors
  • United Nations High Commission for Refugees Offices
  • Trade Unions

Feature Description

When the caller dials 08000REFUGEE number, the NIVR announcement with a recorded greeting answers the call and offers the caller a selection of options to choose from.

The main menu or the main announcement in this service asks the caller if they want to contact any of the organizations mentioned in the introduction.

Based on the option selected, the caller will be routed to a telephone number that is linked to their option.

In some instances, an option can lead to another menu with different options, and finally to the destination number. For example, if they choose to contact department of Home Affairs, they will be prompted again as to which regional office they want to contact.
